What would you say?

Peter's Confession of Christ
Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi.
On the way he asked them,
"Who do people say I am?"

They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets."

"But what about YOU?" he asked.

"Who do you say I am?"
Peter answered, "You are the Christ".

Mark 8:27-29

fish answered, "You are my friend, my everything..."

Winter Wonderland

i wonder how it feels like now if i'm wrapped in fleece and feet warmly covered by fluffy socks and tough leather boots, trampling through the winter wonderland.

Irony... sigh. I wish I could be immersed in a snowy winter wonderland when I am in a sunny wonderland. i remembered how much i wanted a warm Christmas when i was wrapped in the thick scarf...

Yes, it's the time of the year again! The season of wonderful lights, the season of giving and receiving, the time when toffeenut latte re-appears in the starry Starbucks.

I miss my friends at such a time. I wonder what everyone's doing at this point in time. We are so far apart and i miss u so. I wish we could gather. I wish i could be over to all my friends' home. Virtual friends. I've accumulated so many of them, and will be having more.

Nevertheless, I thank God for such a beautiful season, a season that brings Hope, a season that brings Life, a season that brings Joy. Thank you for your greatest gift- Jesus.

My Vacation

wow. ten days flew by so quickly. i'm back.

Weather in Taiwan and Hong Kong are great! Feels like walking in huge air-conditioned room all day. We traveled so much in this trip. Short visits in every big city. Went to many night markets and ate soooo much as we shopped.

Met up with family friends in Kao Shiong. I think that's the part of the trip i enjoyed most! haha. Meeting up with nice good friends is really enjoyable and meaningful.

Taiwan- truly just sightseeing. Getting to know some historical backgrounds and geography of the land. Good to know more about other countries! Enjoyed the sceneries. Loved the feeling of being surrounded by mountains all the time. Beautiful.

Hong Kong- shop, buy, eat. Just like Hong Kong's tourism board's tagline "shop & eat". There was nothing else to do there!! The shopping was good. Lots of variety and things are cheaper there. I guessed i would have enjoyed more if their service can be improved! Food was ok. However, I still prefer our own dim sum and roast pork in singapore! hahaa.. At least we wouldnt be screamed at if we were too slow or fast in placing our orders! sigh.

Vacations are always good. A break from the norm. Stragely in this trip, I find myself missing home as i travel. Maybe it's the fatigueness of shopping and getting up early. Anywayz, glad to be back. =)

Goodbye my Friend...

Attended ronald's memorial service today.

He was called home to be with the Lord. I was so shocked when i received the message. Couldnt believe my eyes. Called jean and repeatedly shouted into the phone.. "this is not true right??!" Well, the truth is that he is gone.

Ling, ronald's sister read out one of his last journal entries during the service. I'm so glad to know that his faith and trust in the Lord stayed strong even at the last part of his life. Pictures of him were flashed on the screen. Tears kept flowing. Yes, we all ask why. we all want to know why. we know life is unfair. but i know that God makes sense, even when life doesnt. God's plans and ways are higher than our own.

Jesus said "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going."

Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."
John 14:1-6

Yes, this is the hope. I know i will see him again in my Father's house one day.

Tea-Therapy

secret getaway. was immerged in the strong aromatic tea as i travel up the steps. When i arrived on the second floor, i was warmly welcomed by the simple furnishing, smiling flowers and cozy seats. i love the place. i had the best tea-egg ever (well, tang mama's is really good too). But this is different.. the yolk is 3/4 cooked. Parts of it will ooze out as u take your first bite into the center of the egg. heavenly. sipped my glass of chilled tea. wonderful combination. nice getaway. We had the entire place to ourselves. =)

Bake-therapy

Stressful life at work. I'm enjoying every bit of my weekend. =) pammie & i made cute sandwiches last night. it was so much fun, cutting out shapes of bunny, bears, stars, flowers with sandwiches.. cute!
We had so much leftovers (breadskin) and we started rolling them, turning them into yummy sushi sandwich.

We also made happy fruity dessert. throw in hami-melon, pomelo, palm fruit into mango puree & passion fruit, white grape juice. yummlicious! slurp!

End of the spear (again)

Relived the moments of the movie, "End of the Spear". Watched it again with my cell tonight. It gripped my heart again. Re-read my 2006 blog on this movie. I remembered feeling really touched, and seeing the power of forgiveness at work in the life of the son and family of Nate Saint (the missionary who was speared to death). I also remembered that i could not believe my own eyes when i saw steve saint and Mincaye live in Tulsa. They were so close and steve saint showed Mincaye so much love and respect even though that was the man who killed his dad... mind blowing.

The power of God's love is immeasurable. God's way and our ways are just so different.

we say, an eye for an eye.
Jesus says, "Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also"- Matt 5:39

we say, i hate my enemies.
Jesus says, "Love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven"- Matt 5:44
wow.

What impacted me the most as i watched the movie tonight was when Mincaye brought steve to the exact place where his father was killed and told him that he was the one who speared his dad. He then passed a spear to steve and awaits for steve to kill him. However, steve dropped the spear and said "no one took my father's life, he gave it" Watch it here...

See the real them...

May you experience the love of God too.. =)

We Won!!!

Ben & Jerry's ice-cream indeed made our day on sunday! -we won the story conetest, and was given a BJ fridge with 30pints of BJs!! yes, i mean 30 PINTS. Not minicups! no kidding! the freezer was like half my height!

Pammie was hyper-ly surprised by the B&J team! many smiles! =)

I was equally shocked when the person-in-charge called me a week ago and told me that pammie is the winner for the fridge! aw! i literally screamed "yay!!" into the phone! well, with a tinge of disbelief, i hung up with excitement!!!

Sunday arrived quickly! (thank God) but my gosh.. it was so hard to convince pam to go home(u know how buzy she gets on sunday??!!) I came up with all sorts of excuses and at last, had to use my mom as the final weapon. hee. aunty power!

Everyone was shocked, but pleasantly surprised when BJ team arrives! Pammie & me were being interviewed!

I'm really thankful for this mega surprise! I'm so glad to see pam happy! I feel so proud and glad to know that Ben & Jerry agreed with me that such a wonderful person like pam deserves a treat, a mega-type treat! It didnt take me much to write about her as she is just overly inspiring and real!! In fact, i felt like the short paragraph wasn't sufficient for me to share all that she has done!

check out this link for the stories!- pam's story is entitled "pass it on". http://www.benjerry.com.sg/birthdaybash/

Such inspirational lifestories need to be passed on. Such spirit of love and trust needs to be passed on. Message of God's love need to be passed on. The yumminess of bj needs to be passed on too! -pass it on!

All in all, thanks pam, for being such a wonderful mentor and friend. keep on shining for God

God is really good to us. I see His hands and His providence. I'm overwhelmed by His love for us. I have to testify the goodness and faithfulness of God!!

er.. yes, am gonna put on weight! haha. i've finished 2 pints (with mommy) since sunday... many more to gooo....BJ rocks!

Youth at Risk

Watched a local movie-The Days on sunday. Free tickets are great! Thank God for great friends! I loved the movie. I normally dont praise local films but this time, i would say. 4 popcorns! worth the time and $_$. The movie brought me back to secondary school days. Reflecting upon my past, i thank God for His grace and protection. I could have fallen into the trap of gangs so easily since so many people wanted to fight me. haha. It's based on a true story. How real and how sad that it really happened and is probably still happening...

Looking at troubled youths pains my heart. I've been working with a few of them lately. I feel like going all out to protect them, to help them, and most of all, to tell them that there is a God who loves them. Other than God, i do not know how to comfort them. His loved one died, he took drugs, he cursed, he regretted, he cuts himself, he tried to crash his bike against a wall, he drank 4 bottles of hard liquor, he cried, he fought, he doesnt want to live. He's too young to have to fight this war. "Eileen, i dont know why things turn out this way for me. i dont have a choice. i do not have a future anymore. there's no point living..."

I was heartbroken. I put down the phone and i felt great pain in my heart. Sometimes it's too hard to change. Too hard to start over. Too many decisions in life we have to make. But i feel sorry for them for they are very very young. In my words, too young to have to go through these things. They never had happy childhood. All they want in life is acceptance and love. All they are looking for is someone who could extend a helping hand to walk them through. I pray they get to know my best friend and personal savior, Jesus.

Wet Weather

many nights this week i was awakened by flashes of lightning and howling wind. It's been raining so hard. Really nice to sleep in! haha. made things difficult in the morning. The thought of getting up... walking on wet grounds.. gosh. Did not sound too attractive to me.

the rain slowed things down. well, am glad that work load reduced too.

Am awaiting for sunshine. Yes, sunshine after the heavy rain.
Hope things can be better very soon.

well... that's all for work.

Went to evangelistic service with my parents, sister helen and yushan's family!. i believe that seeds were sown in the hearts of the pre-believers as the Truth was preached. I thank God for opportunities to share Christ with those who has yet to believe! Praying hard.

Last Day

the day had arrived and past. I had imagined that it might be a weepy day. i thought i might embarass myself again like when mr chong left. haha.. And mcdull had to check on me consistently to make sure i was ok... haha. Well, i'm ok i guess. Friday turned out to be more bearable then i thought. Maybe it's the busyness. Maybe it's denial. Maybe it hasn't set in. Nevertheless, i know that I'm truly happy for jo. The mini party was heart-warming. Nice gathering of people. Think i had so much fun just catching up with people. Well wishes, food and gifts. It's over. The last farewell project entertainment comm has for the year! *deep breath*

I wanna fly away too! Get on a jetplane and goooooo!!!! go to chicajo land, where jo promised to buy me tons of ben & jerry's. =)

Give Thanks..

yes! a thanksgiving post. Thanking God for giving me favor with the auditor. Ya.. mine got picked up in the ward today. i mean wards.. Sigh. It was just so crazy how they kept picking up my cases.. from the various wards!!! Have been frantic through the day.

Nevertheless, really wanna thank God as he helped me through the stressful session; giving me the right words to say, and the right words to write in the casesheet. phew. It's over. (i hope..) In fact, 2 more days of craziness. I'm also thankful to have a bunch of prayer warriors supporting us as we went through the "trial". hahaa.. Thanks ya'll.

crazy week

It's only tues... but it feels like it should be friday tomorrow. But then again, i don't really want friday to come. Sigh. What an irony!

It's audit week. I feel like i'm working in a pressure cooker. I jump at every knock, every call. My desk is incredibly clean and everyone laughs at my cleanliness (ya.. coz it was never this clean).. I can't believe myself either. haa.. We're on our toes daily. tippie toe. sigh!

well.. I'm thankful that audit will come to an end. I've realized that all good and bad things will eventually come to an end. It has happened so many rounds that maybe i should have gotten used to it. People coming in and out of my life. This is life i guess. And i believe that God has sent them into my life for a season and reason.

This week has been so busy that i think it will past too quickly. And before i know it, she'll be gone. Can't imagine at this moment how it'll be like to see an empty crazy jojo desk. oh well. But am truly happy and excited for her next challenge in life!

Glad to have new travel destination though. haha.

will miss the times of having a great buddy at work. shall say no more. save me some tears. love ya mojo. :'(

Weekend of Fun... part 2!

me, pam @ the sand bar

yes... as it is named.. weekend of fun! so sunday was ANOTHER day of happiness.

i followed aunty helen and pam to a family day@ the sand bar, sentosa! aw... overseas!! haha..

The skyride and sentosa luge were great too! we stood in line for about an hour and luged down in 2 mins. cheh! hheheee... but well, truly worth the try!

I loved the sun, sand and sea. plus of course the bbq food that came with it.
the yeungs came later and added more fun!!

it was really a new experience for most of us. dine by the beach. How nice? and it's f.r.e.e =) hahahaaa....

the finale was the visit to aunty helen's friend home that was in Sentosa Cove.. gosh.
couldnt believe my eyes when we drove in. It felt like we've entered another part of the world. The front of the house faces the port and sea. The owner has a smal pool and jacuzzi at the back of his house. And then at the backyard, the private boat was parked. me gosh. ** speechless. hahaa...

It was a really nice evening @ sentosa. I missed the greenery and serenity. Of course it was not really that quiet, but a getaway from the main island does feels different. I love my friends. =)

Weekend of Fun... =)

NDP was great... my parents and i were inv
ited to soho by the friendly sohs'. The view was breathtaking The moment i stepped into the apartment, i went "wow...."

well..don't you agree??!
and of course, i took the grandstand seat! hahaa.. i was nicely parked beside the window, turning my head to catch both views! the one on my left was tv screen and the one on my right was the real thing!

It was very enjoyable to have so many people celebrating together! I was particularly amazed by waifunn's family who all showed up in red! yay! i love such patriotic spirit. The closet patriotic me showed up in hot pink, the family of red. haha. And yes, my parents had so much fun!

i was loaded with tons of cheese n
crackers n snacks =) happiness! The night ended with blazing fireworks. Ha, if you look at the picture carefully, you can see both tv screen and the real fireworks!

Many special thanks to all who made it possible!
-pam the organizer
-helen the owner
-stan the worker (screen & sound specialist)
-ros the eater :p

plus all who brought their joy and laughters!

Happy Birthday Singapore!

i remembered i left Singapore in 2004 on this day. Gosh.. 4 years flew by. I began to believe the saying where once you hit 20, each year seemed to fly by quickly. How scary. haha.

Had so much fun with my cell last night. Pizza movie nite was incredibly fun. haha. ya, coke does make people go a little crazy. We laughed so much. gosh!

yes, as usual, i love public hols. 3 cheers! sleep in day! love the waking up with a smile. and helping myself to coffee and breakkie. Guitar, books, lappie. Bright, windy, comfy, happy.

Was at the actual day parade last year. kinda exciting, but i didn't enjoy the queue and crowd. I think i'll enjoy my NDP this year. Am looking forward to chilling out with friends, watching fireworks over nice cuppa and snacks in air-conditioned hall. aw. My kinda thing.

New Look

Yupz.. i've got a new perm-ed look. =)
Happy.

However, i must say that the process was C-R-a-Z-Y. I told Mc dull that it was a torture. Well, she witnessed it. They started it off by giving me some real torture on my ear where they tried to sell me a million products and treatment packages. All i did was.. "hahha.. it's ok lah. Thanks" + sweet smile. Then my stylist pulled my hair in various directions and later yanked out an octopus looking machine and started oven-ing my hair. hmm..

that's so not all. She later started curling my hair on some heavy ceramic curlers. By the time she was done, my head weighed probably 3 kgs more! hahaa. Then my neck began to feel the strain. Yes, then time for frying. wooowooowooo. not quite lah. haha.. they attached wires to the end of the curlers, which i thought looked like the ends of microphones!! haha..and there we go... turn on the h-e-A-T.

I totally looked like some psy pt who was undergoing some major brain surgery. Of course, miss anna turned and laughed. saying that i looked like some starwar sumthing.

After many hours of baking, my hair was done! mee sua turned into maggie mee. =) yay. not quite maggie mee lah. maybe more like...mee pok. hahaa..

anywayz. i like my hairdo. Kinda mad process but well.. maybe it's all worth it. ?.?
haha.. you should try it too!
